About Kate
I've always been insatiably curious about the human condition and the unique life paths each of us take. Growing up, I'd play amateur therapist for my friends but life had a lot to teach me before I could step into this role for real. There were many years of deep darkness and confusion and I had to find my own process of growing through it, mainly by reconnecting to my intuition through a contemplative meditation practice and by leaning into the support of nature to better see and feel my place in the world.
In what feels like a million years ago, I kept myself busy with a decade-long career in engineering. Finally ready, I leapt back into school for therapy with the struggles and joys of partnership and parenthood added in for good measure. Today, I strive to be more present, more curious, more reverent of my relations, and to nurture the joys in my life. My fortunate livelihood as a therapist definitely supports all of these things.
I hold a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia University) and have a Holistic Birth Doula certificate through The Matrona. My training on therapeutic approaches includes Psychosynthesis (transpersonal parts work), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Ecopsychology, Hakomi, Sand Play, Dreamwork, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). As a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, I am currently working towards full licensure as a Senior Associate at New Perspectives Center for Counseling in San Francisco CA and at the East Bay Couples Collective in Oakland CA.
